Oscar-winning songwriter and satirist Randy Newman will attend post-show receptions for ticketholders who buy $150 “premium seating” tickets for either of the benefit shows he will play at the Englert Theatre May 5 and 6.

Englert managing director Sean Fredericks says some premium seating tickets are still available; tickets for $100 and $65 area also available for the Englert Theatre Gala Fundraiser.

Every ticket price includes pre-show receptions at the Iowa Artisan's Gallery, Chait Galleries, and AKAR (with wine at light food at each); membership in the Friends of the Englert; and a tax deductible contribution to the theatre’s operating fund.

Tickets are available by contacting the Englert Theatre Box Office at 319-688-2653, at the box office at 221 E Washington Street or online.

Born into a family of musicians, Newman has composed movie scores including “Ragtime,” “The Natural,” “Parenthood,” “Awakenings,” “ James and the Giant Peach,” “Pleasantville,’ “A Bug's Life,” “Meet the Parents” and “Toy Story.” His movie soundtrack work has earned him 16 Oscar nominations, including his first win for the song "If I Didn't Have You" from the film “Monsters, Inc.”

His other awards include three Grammys and an Emmy.
