Free Downtown Drive In Movie Series returning to CR
07-08-2008 | Family
The third annual Downtown Drive In Movie Series returns to Cedar Rapids on Saturday, July 19.
"Night at the Musuem" starring Ben Stiller will start at dusk at the Cedar Rapids Bank & Trust parking lot along First Avenue SE. The free event will begin at 7:30 p.m. with family-friendly entertainment including an inflatable kids jungle bus, a dunk tank and temporary tattoos.
Viewers can bring blankets and chairs to enjoy the outdoor event or stay in their car for the classic drive-in experience.
Cedar Rapids Bank & Trust and the Cedar Rapids Downtown District staff and volunteers will be on site to promote “Rebuild Downtown", a flood recovery and renovation campaign focused on bringing businesses back to the downtown area after last month's flooding. Shirts will be available for a free will donation, with profits going to the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Job Recovery Fund. On-site appearances will also be made by the CR Spirits and Z102.9.
The next movie in the series is "The Goonies" on Aug. 9. More information here.
