The Chamber Singers of Iowa City, a 60-member classical choir, will hold auditions for their 2008-2009 season at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2301 E. Court St. on August 11 and 12 from 6 to 9 p.m.

Altos and tenors are especially encouraged to audition.

Audition requirements are a prepared, short a cappella piece, range check, sight signing and pitch memory. Auditions are by appointment only; call Carol Christensen at (319) 338-3837 to schedule an audition time. More information is available at the Iowa City Chamber Singers web site.

David Puderbaugh, music director of Chamber Singers, will conduct auditions. Puderbaugh is the assistant director of choral activities at the University of Iowa and an accomplished international tenor soloist and Fulbright scholar. This will be his sixth season with the Chamber Singers.

Chamber Singers will rehearse Mondays from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church from Aug. 25 through May 25, 2009. Concerts are planned for Nov. 23, Feb. 22 and May 31.

The nonprofit choir, which focuses on choral/orchestral repertory, recently performed Vaughan William's "Mass in G minor," Handel's "Messiah," Beethoven's "Mass in C Major" and Orff's "Carmina Burana."
