Artist donates paintings to flood-damaged businesses
08-20-2008 | Fine Arts
Cedar Rapids artist Ann Royer was not directly hit by the flood of 2008, but like many in the community she was deeply saddened by the devastation.
She decided to donate five of her oil canvas paintings, ranging in size from 48" by 36" to 70" by 50", to local businesses that had interior damage resulting from the floods in June. Royer contacted CornerHouse Gallery and Framing for the donations. CornerHouse has many of Royer's originals, including paintings and sculptures.
The artwork for the donation is available to view at the gallery at 2753 First Ave. SE in Cedar Rapids. Any business or nonprofit interested in receiving one of the oil canvases needs to come in, and put their business card in the container corresponding to the painting they wish to have. A drawing will be held on Sept. 25 at the gallery from 5 to 7 p.m.
